Jinja Regional Referral Hospital (RRH) is located in southeastern Uganda, approximately 87 kilometers east of Kampala, Uganda. 

According to the 2014 census data, Jinja Hospital serves a population of 471,242 in Jinja district. With a bed capacity of 408 beds, the hospital serves Bugiri, Kamuli, Iganga, Mayuge, Namutumba, Kaliro, Buyende, Luuka, Namayingo, and Jinja Districts. It is a designated internship hospital, where medical graduates undergo a year of internship under the supervision of consultants and specialists in the medical and surgical disciplines.

The USAID/SUSTAIN project supports Jinja to deliver quality and comprehensive HIV/AIDS services. In 2015, the hospital was selected as one of the six pilot/model centers for adolescent friendly health services and receives support from the project to set up and provide friendly services for adolescents in the region.

Jinja RRH, with the support of SUSTAIN, is also utilizing the science of quality improvement to enhance the quality of HIV/AIDS care and treatment services. Find out more about specific experiences, ideas, and lessons learned.
