Masaka Regional Referral Hospital (RRH) is one of the high volume hospitals located in south-central Uganda, approximately 132 kilometers southwest of Kampala.
According to the 2014 census data, Masaka Hospital serves a population of 297,004 in Masaka district. The hospital offers both general and specialized services and is a teaching hospital. The hospital is a referral facility for the districts of Kalangala, Lyantonde, Masaka, Sembabule, Kalungu, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi and Rakai.
USAID/SUSTAIN project supports Masaka to strengthen laboratory and TB service delivery activities in the region. The project has particularly supported the hospital to establish and strengthen the laboratory hub transportation network, and management of multi-drug-resistant TB (MDR-TB), including renovating and furnishing a MDR-TB ward.
